Frequently asked questions and things you might like to know...
1. Are you really only open one weekend per month?
It's true! Urban Mining is open just one weekend per month, from Thursday-Sunday on the weekend with the first Friday of the month in it. See our "sale dates" page for event dates. Occasionally, we will have a special event and open for a preview, and we do have an extra "bonus weekend" in December, but normally, it's just one weekend per month!
2. Can I purchase something at a sale event and pick it up later?
Can't take it with you? You can make arrangements at the time of purchase for someone to meet you at The Mine, to pick up your item within the next 7 days after the sale. We also offer delivery. For item pickup, call Jack at 816-915-0702.
3. Can I have a large item delivered?
Sure thing! We have a few folks on our team with the resources to deliver an item to you. They charge a nominal fee, depending on the item size and the delivery location. We do it all the time, so just ask about delivery when you make your purchase, and we'll find the right person to help you.
4. Can I make a purchase between sales?
It's been known to happen... If the item is featured in the photos on our website, it should be fairly easy for us to find out if it is still available. For an item you saw in our store during a recent sale, it can be a little tricky. Often the item has already sold, or has even been moved out to make room for something new. Email us at susanvhartnett@yahoo.com, with an item description and the location in our store where you saw it, and we'll try to find it for you.
5. What is your return policy?
Because of the unique, vintage nature of our items, we consider all purchases to be final. However, we strive to take care of our customers, and will work to find an agreeable solution to a problem should one arise.
6. Why choose vintage items over new?
Vintage lovers know that quality craftsmanship is a thing of the past. Shopping vintage is a great way to affordably add beauty, elegance, character and nostalgia to your life. It's also a really "green" thing to do. A beautiful vintage item with a unique history is reclaimed, renewed, refreshed, restored, and returned to useful service. And we get to enjoy a one of a kind treasure for years to come.
7. I have something to sell. Should I become an Urban Miner?
If you love vintage like we love vintage, and if the thrill of finding the perfect treasure, or restoring a piece of vintage furniture keeps you awake at night, this life might be for you. We have a waiting list of potential Miners, and we'd love to hear from you. Just email us a few photographs of a nice display of items you envision showcasing at Urban Mining, and tell us about your prior experience and skill with repurposing and renewing vintage finds. Our email is susanvhartnett@yahoo.com.
If you don't see yourself filling a space with unique and wonderful treasures month after month, consider offering your items for sale to our Miners. Email a description and photo of the items to us along with your asking price to susanvhartnett@yahoo.com, and we'll get in touch to talk it over!
